Taunton, MA (June 28, 2018) – A motorcyclist was left with life-threatening injuries following a crash with a vehicle on Thursday in Taunton, Massachusetts.  The crash occurred Thursday afternoon on Liberty Street.  Taunton police rushed to the scene to investigate upon receiving the call.  Officers believe the collision occurred when the motorcyclist struck a car which was backing out of a driveway.  Police say that the motorcyclist “broadsided” the car, causing the bike to overturn in the roadway.

Rescue units responded to the crash, along with police.   The motorcyclist, who is described only as a 20 year old from Taunton, was transported by ambulance to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.  A fire department official on scene described the injuries as “bad.”  The motorcyclist was initially pinned underneath the car and had to be extricated by the Jaws of Life.  Traffic was closed in both directions while the accident was investigated.  Police have not identified either the motorcyclist or the driver of the car, which was described as a Chrysler Sebring.  There is no word on potential charges at this time.
