Chelmsford, MA (June 27, 2018) – Police in Chelmsford have identified the motorcyclist killed in a crash on I-495 Monday. David Mains, a fire captain in Raymond, Maine has been named by authorities as the man who lost his life. Police now believe that Mains was traveling on 495 in a 2007 Yamaha Motorcycle when he struck the back of a 2016 Mercedes and was ejected from the bike. The Mercedes had slowed down because of congested traffic.
Mains’ wife was also on the motorcycle with him at the time of the crash. She suffered serious injuries and remains in the hospital. There is no word at this time on whether the other driver will face charges and police have not released their identity pending further investigation.
