Bus accidents can be extremely dire as the large weight and sheer size of these vehicles can be a dangerous force. Accidents involving passenger vehicles can also impact many people at a time. Bus drivers must remember to use extreme caution, and other drivers must remember that large vehicles can have large blind spots and difficulty braking quickly.
On May 24, an MBTA bus driver and two passengers were transported to Massachusetts General Hospital with minor injuries after a car and bus collided on Interstate 93 southbound.
Officials in Charleston received a report that an Everett woman driving a 2016 BMW attempted to enter the HOV lane by crossing over rubber strips. This caused the bus already in the HOV lane to strike the driver’s side of the car. The accident occurred at 9 in the morning, and emergency personnel responded shortly afterwards. The HOV lane was shut down until about 10:55 a.m., and emergency personnel directed traffic around the area. The extent of the injuries is still being determined.
