A pedestrian was hurt in an accident which occurred on Monday in Boston. A call came in to the Boston Police Department just before 7:00 am regarding a pedestrian accident with injuries. Upon receiving word of the crash, dispatchers immediately sent a Boston Police officer to the scene to investigate. Officer Eliot Telisnder handled this particular crash investigation on behalf of the department.
When he got to the scene at Dartmouth Street, Officer Telisnor encountered a pedestrian that had been injured while walking in the roadway. The pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle and injured in the process. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene to cooperate with police investigation. Neither the pedestrian or the driver have been identified at this time.
Boston Pedestrian Accidents
Pedestrian accidents are an unfortunate fact of life in our state. Especially in large cities, such as Boston, where pedestrians are all around, these accidents occur frequently. In heavily congested areas, it is extremely important for drivers to use due caution when approaching an area frequented by pedestrians. Similarly, pedestrians must make sure that they are always following all traffic laws and ordinances for their own safety. The police investigation into a pedestrian accident is crucial because it lays the foundation for a later personal injury claim to be potentially brought by a pedestrian. Witness statements, traffic scene measurements, and cameras located near the intersection where the accident occurs can all play a role in the crash reconstruction which is so crucial in these types of cases.
If a pedestrian is injured due to the negligence of another, the pedestrian may have claim for personal injuries suffered as a result. These cases are complicated, however. If you find yourself in this situation, you need an experienced personal injury attorney to help walk you through your case.
