Six-Vehicle Pile-up Accident in North Attleboro Causes InjuriesI-93 traffic got off to a rough start on Thursday morning with an injury accident involving multiple vehicles.  The accident happened around 5:00 am on Route 24 southbound in the left travel lane.  This stretch of roadway is located in Andover, Massachusetts.  Police in Andover rushed to the crash scene to check on the injured victims and to secure the area around the accident.

Traffic was blocked in the left travel lanes for some period of time as police were clearing the roadway of cars and debris.  After about an hour, the road re-opened for motorists and traffic was allowed to pass through again.   Although there were injuries in this accident, there is no further detail on the the severity or extent of the injuries to those involved.  We will bring you more information about this crash if it later becomes available.

Boston Car Accidents

Injury Accident on Hilltop Drive in SaugusA crash on Route 6 this afternoon in Dennis, Massachusetts has left one-person suffering from life-threatening injuries.  A Ford F-150 was traveling westbound on Route 6, near exit 9 and the Bass River. Officials with the Dennis Fire Department say that the truck was pulling a boat at the time.   Suddenly, the truck was cut off by another vehicle attempting to merge into its lane.  As the driver swerved to avoid hitting the other vehicle, they lost control of the truck and the truck flipped over several times.

One of the injured victims in the truck was trapped underneath the vehicle for several minutes as emergency rescue workers tried to free him.  Emergency personnel from Yarmouth had to use lifting air bags to remove the man from the truck while also utilizing a chain saw to cut trees off of the truck’s door.   Both injured men were taken to Cape Cod Hospital, where one has what are described as life-threatening injuries.

Traffic backed up for several miles due to the accident and was down to one lane for over an hour as officials worked the crash.  Massachusetts State Police are still investigating the crash.  No one has been charged at this time.

download-1-1-300x168A rear-end collision in Harwich, Massachusetts sent four people to the hospital with injuries on Wednesday afternoon.  The crash occurred on Queen Anne Road at Popple Road.  This particular stretch is a construction zone that has been narrowed to  one lane due to the ongoing work in the area.

Police report that around 3:00 pm a Honda Civic was slowed or stopped on Queen Anne due to construction delays.  A Toyota Corolla approached the Civic from behind and failed to reduce its speed in time to avoid a rear-end collision.  The force of the collision resulted in injuries to four people in the Civic.  The injured were taken to Cape Cod hospital by ambulance to be treated.  Their injuries, although serious, do not appear to be life-threatening.  Harwich police officers are handling the accident investigation.  Firefighters from the Brewster and Chatham Fire Departments also assisted with investigation on scene.  There is no word on whether charges will be handed down as a result of the crash.

Rear-End Collision

Woman Struck by Vehicle in WorcesterThe Cambridge Police Department responded to a call for assistance on Tuesday evening regarding a pedestrian incident.   The call came in to police at around 8:00 pm and is recorded as Cambridge Police incident number 18004073.   Cambridge police officers quickly responded to Cedar Street, the location of the call.  When they arrived on scene, they discovered that a pedestrian walking in the roadway had been struck by a car.  The pedestrian sustained injuries in the accident, however, the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Both the driver of the car and the pedestrian remained on scene and assisted Cambridge police with their investigation.   The accident is still under review at this time.  As of now, police have not issued any charges in connection with the incident and have not indicated whether anyone will be charged at a later date.  The driver and pedestrian were not identified.

Massachusetts Pedestrian Accidents

Accident on Belgrade AvenuePolice and medical personnel were busy this morning responding to a host of car accidents across our area during the morning commute.  One of the many accidents happened on I-495 in Haverhill, Massachusetts.   This crash took place shortly before 9:00 am in the southbound lanes of the highway.  The crash was located just past exit 48 at the Ward Hill Connector.  More than one car was involved in the crash.

Unfortunately, authorities report that there were injuries in this crash but, at this time, it is not known if the injuries are life-threatening.  Motorists traveling through this area experienced heavy delays around the scene of the crash as the left travel lane of the highway was blocked.  Delays were reported for a considerable distance approaching the accident.  Authorities eventually cleared the roadway and traffic was allowed to proceed through before 10:00 am.

Tractor-Trailer Accident on I-90A crash on I-93 this morning at the peak of rush hour caused major headaches for motorists traveling southbound.  The crash happened just before Exit 44 in Andover, Massachusetts.  The wreck caused two left travel lanes to be completely blocked on the southbound side of the highway.  Additionally, at least one lane of the northbound side was also blocked while the accident was in the clearing stages.  Motorists in both directions on I-93 experienced heavy delays as they attempted to make it through their morning commute.

Police in Andover report that there were also injuries involved in this collision.  Medical personnel were on the scene along with police.  Officers were on scene for approximately an hour while investigating the accident.  After the road was re-opened, motorists continued to experience delays while passing by the site of the accident.  No updates were given on the condition of the injured victims nor has a cause for the crash been listed by authorities.

Highway Collisions

Injury Accident on Cornell StreetBoston Police responded to an injury accident that took place on Tuesday morning in the city.  The call for help came in to police just before 9:00 am.  Reports indicate that the accident involved several vehicles, although there is no indication on where the accident took place.  Arriving officers took control of the scene and ordered medical treatment for those injured in the crash.

At this time, we do not have any additional information on what injuries were suffered by those affected in this crash.  Police have not released the identities of the drivers or provided any further information beyond what was initially available.  Officers did not not note the existence of any life-threatening or serious injuries and we have no other indication that there were life-threatening injuries sustained in this accident.

Car Crash in Plymouth Injures 3Boston Police have a tough job.  Every day, they respond to hundreds of calls across our city for assistance of all types.  Some calls are dangerous, other calls involve trauma and injuries to civilians.  As part of their job duties, they also respond to numerous calls regarding car accidents which occur here on a daily basis.

One such call came in to police headquarters just after 11:00 pm Tuesday evening.  Officer Nadia Siconolfi was on patrol in her assigned area when she received a dispatch regarding an injury accident that had just occurred on American Legion Highway.  Officer Siconolfi responded to the accident scene, where she found that one person had been injured in the crash.  She called for medical units to come to the accident and administer treatment to the victim.

Officer Siconolfi closed the area down while her investigation into the accident remained ongoing.  At this time, we do not know what caused the accident to occur or the identity of the drivers.  It does not appear that the injuries sustained in the collision were life-threatening which is always good to hear.  We will bring you any further information as we receive it.

Haverhill police chase ends in crashPolice in Boston were busy responding to numerous injury accidents on Tuesday evening.  In most cases, drivers involved remained at the crash scene and cooperated with the police investigation into the accident.  However, in the case of an accident that occurred on Baker Street, at least one driver decided to flee the scene prior to police arrival.

An accident with injuries was reported to Officer Joanne Byrne at 9:42 pm.  Officer Byrne arrived to the Baker Street location where she was dispatched and found a person who had sustained injuries in a recent motor vehicle crash.  Through witness statements and her own observations, Officer Byrne concluded that this was  a hit and run crash.  The other driver has not been located by Boston police and the crash investigation remains ongoing at this time.  It is expected that charges will be brought as a result of this crash.  We hope for the speedy recovery of the injured victim in the meantime.

Hit-and-Run Accident on Vernon StreetBoston Police responded to many motor vehicle crashes with injury on Tuesday.  One of those crashes took place just prior to 9:30 pm on Bowdoin Street.  Officer Michael Russell was on routine patrol Tuesday night in the area of Bowdoin Street when he received a radio call for assistance to the scene.  Officer Russell quickly responded to the call and headed to the accident.   Once there, he discovered a victim suffering from injuries caused by the accident.

Medical personnel arrived to the scene shortly after police and treated the accident victim.  The injuries sustained are not believed to be serious in nature or life-threatening.  Boston police diverted traffic around the accident while their investigation remained active.  Officers were on scene taking measurements and speaking with witnesses before clearing the roadway and allowing traffic flow to resume for the remainder of the evening.
