27826443258_b358ca39e1_b-300x300Cambridge, MA (June 28, 2018) – An MIT police officer was on routine patrol Wednesday when he was struck by a vehicle at an intersection.  The accident occurred around 10:30 am when the MIT officer was working detail patrol on Vassar Street.  At that time, Cambridge police say a vehicle approached the intersection and failed to come to a complete stop at a stop sign.  The vehicle operator proceeded through the stop sign an struck the officer.  The officer, who has not been identified at this time, suffered injuries which are not considered to be life-threatening.

The crash investigation remains ongoing at this time with the Cambridge Police Department.  The driver, who was also not identified, was issued a citation for failure to yield.  There is no word on the condition of the injured MIT officer.

1177205_bicycles_in_amsterdam-300x200Cambridge, MA (June 28, 2018) – A bicyclist in Cambridge, Massachusetts was hurt on Wednesday when they were struck by a car door.  The bicyclist was riding on Cambridge Street just after 9:00 am when they approached a parked car.  The driver was still inside the vehicle and opened their door to get out.   However, prior to opening the door, the driver failed to see the oncoming bicyclist.  The door struck the bicyclist, knocking them off their bicycle.

The motor vehicle driver failed to stay at the scene.  The cyclist then left the area to locate Cambridge police.  Once an officer was located, the cyclist reported the incident to police.  Police were able to contact the driver and issued a them a citation for an unsafe movement.  The bicyclist sustained injuries as a result of being struck by the door, however, the injuries do not appear to be serious.

1118296_crosswalk-300x199Cambridge, MA (June 28, 2018) – A pedestrian in Cambridge, Massachusetts was injured on Wedensday while walking at the intersection of Vassar Street and Amesbury Street.  Cambridge police were told that the accident occurred just before 6:00 pm when a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.  Police responded to the scene and spoke with both the pedestrian and the driver of the vehicle.  The pedestrian and driver cooperated with the police investigation into the accident.  It is not known at this time what caused the crash to occur.  Police did not immediately charge either party in association with the crash.

The pedestrian suffered injuries as a result of the accident.  Fortunately, the injuries were not life-threatening and the pedestrian was treated on scene.  Neither the pedestrian nor the driver have been identified by Cambridge police.

Bicycle Accident at Temple PlaceCambridge, MA (June 28, 2018) – A bicyclist in Cambridge was hurt Wednesday when they collided with a car in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  The bicyclist was riding on Franklin Street, near Bay Street around 1:00 pm when they collided with a car traveling at the same location.  The resulting collision left the bicyclist with injuries.  Cambridge Police investigated the crash.

Officers have not released additional details surrounding the collision as they continue to investigate.  Fortunately, the bicyclist’s injuries are not life-threatening and it appears as though they escape this crash relatively unscathed.  There is no word on whether police intend to charge the driver for their role in the accident or why this collision occurred in the first place.

Hit-and-Run Accident on Washington SquareSpringfield, MA (June 28, 2018) – A three car collision took place in Springfield, Massachusetts on Wednesday afternoon.  The crash occurred just after 4:30 pm according to Dennis Leger, Executive Aid to the Springfield Fire Commissioner.  At that time, three vehicles were traveling on Liberty Street when they all somehow collided with one another.  Police and fire officials have not said how the collision occurred or who may be at fault for it occurring.

At least one woman was injured in the crash.  Police and firefighters had to extricate her from the car.  Once she was removed, she was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that do no appear to be life-threatening. There is no word on if the other two drivers were injured.  Springfield police continue to investigate the accident and have not issued any charges at this time.

1180083_bicycle_parking_2-300x199Harwichport, MA (June 28, 2018) – A bicyclist was injured in a crash with a car on Wednesday afternoon in Harwichport, Massachusetts.  The bicyclist has been identified as a female college student in town for the summer.  The crash happened on Route 28 when the bicyclist, riding the westbound lanes of the road, struck a motor vehicle trying to pull out from a nearby bank.  Emergency crews and police arrived on scene.   The bicyclist was transported to Cape Cod Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.   The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

There are no further details surrounding the condition of the cyclist.  The motor vehicle operator was not injured in the crash.  Police have not said whether the driver or the cyclist had the right of way when the collision occurred. Police investigation remains ongoing.

Hit-and-Run Accident on Pilgrim AvenueCambridge, MA (June 27, 2018) – Cambridge was the site of a two car collision on Tuesday morning.  Officers with the Cambridge Police Department responded to an accident scene at Cambridge Street around 9:50 am.  While on scene, officers located two vehicles that had just been involved in a collision at the location.  There were injuries sustained in the crash but they are not life-threatening.

Cambridge police have not said how the accident occurred, however, they did charge 37 year old Mirian Dos Santos with operating a motor vehicle without a license.  Dos Santos was also cited for unsafe operation based on witness statements at the scene that she was using a cell phone at the time of the crash.  There is no word on the current condition of the injured driver.

Accident on Route 146Worcester, MA (June 27, 2018) – Police in Worcester investigated several accidents occurring across the city on Tuesday.  Some of these accidents involved just property damage while some others involved personal injury to the drivers.  A multiple vehicle personal injury accident was investigated on Summer Street.  The call came to Worcester police around 2 pm Tuesday afternoon regarding an accident with injuries.

Police quickly responded after receiving the initial call.  There, they located the vehicles and drivers involved in the crash and found at least one of the occupants to be suffering from injuries.  Medical treatment was administered although there is no word at this time on the condition of those injured.  Police have not released additional details regarding this crash so at this time a conclusion cannot be drawn as to which driver may have been responsible for the collision.  We will update you if further information becomes available.

Vehicle Accident at O'Neill TunnelWorcester, MA (June 27, 2018) – An injury accident was reported on Park Avenue in Worcester around midnight on Wednesday.  Worcester police responded to the scene to investigate.  Upon arrival, officers discovered an accident with injuries at this location.  All involved in the crash were on scene to speak with officers when they arrived.  Police conducted an investigation into the crash and cleared away the scene so as not to delay traffic.

There is no word on the condition of the injured victim at this time.  The Worcester police are still investigating the crash and its surrounding circumstances and have not released information on the cause of the collision.  The identity of the drivers involved is also unknown.

man seriously injuredWhately, MA (June 27, 2018) – An ambulance was involved in a rollover crash Wednesday morning in Whately, Massachusetts leading to serious injuries for all five occupants.  The crash happened around 9:00 am on at mile marker 32 on Interstate 91.

Police say five people were aboard the ambulance when it rolled over.  Initial accounts are that four of the five people were rescue workers while the the other was a patient inside the ambulance.  All five individuals were identified as adults.  All but one lane of the highway was shut down while police and emergency workers were on scene.  The five victims were transported to Baystate Medical Center for treatment.  There is no update on their conditions.  The affected lanes were closed for about an hour before re-opening for traffic after the accident was cleared. There is no word on what caused the ambulance to roll over.
