The driver behind the fatal hit-and-run crash from April 9th, has been identified as 79-year-old, Paul Graffe. His attorney issued a statement indicating Revere fatal hit and runthat the man believed he had hit a pothole on Route 145, the scene of the fatal accident. It was not until he was home, and his family assessed the damage on the car that he realized what happened Monday evening. On that Monday evening he also experienced chest pains and was rushed to the hospital. He was released this past Friday, April 13th.

Revere Police Headquarters reports that there was no indication of impairment of the driver by drugs or alcohol. Mr. Gaffe, through his attorney, is fully cooperating with the investigation.

Fatal Hit-and-Run Accidents

In Sturbridge, a large pothole at Exit 9 of the Massachusetts Turnpike caused trouble for many vehicles on Monday. The Massachusetts Department of Massachusetts Turnpike pot Hole Disables VehiclesTransportation had to close down several lanes to fill in the pothole. The closure also affected the exit near Interstate 84 west.

The vehicles that came into contact with the potholes could not be moved and needed the assistance of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation emergency service patrol truck.

There is no information on whether any of the drivers suffered injuries.

Hyannis Fire Captain Greg Dardia reports that there was a two car T-bone accident at Bristol Avenue and Bearse’s Way on Monday afternoon. Both Hyannis broadside collisionvehicles were driven by women who sustained injury requiring transport to Cape Cod Hospital. The road was shut off to traffic for almost an hour. The vehicles involved were a Toyota 4Runner and minivan which each sustained serious damage.

Half a dozen individuals were removed from their apartments in Chicopee in the early hours of Monday, April 16th due to fire. The State Fire Marshal’s Office was also involved in the investigation.

First responders arrived at the scene at 517 McKinstry Avenue to find that all the occupants  fled the burning building. The roof of the building was compromised in the fire. It took almost an hour for the fire to be tamed, and firefighters completely quenched the fire after multiple hours. The fire fight and clean up were handled by Holyoke, Springfield and Westover Air Reserve Base fire departments, although the bulk of the fight was handled by Chicopee firefighters.

The Pioneer Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross has come to the aid of the apartment occupants.

At 10:15 a.m. on Roosevelt Avenue in Springfield, two cars collided. The incident occurred on the icy streets close to Butova Gymnasium at American Springfield triple car crash injuriesInternational College. It is unclear how or why, another car added to the accident shortly thereafter. Occupants in all three cars were transported to the hospital with injuries.

The Ludlow Police, Massachusetts State Police and Hampden County District Attorney’s office have released new information. They uncovered that one of the vehicles veered over the center line which was the reason for the accident. Both vehicles are being searched and reviewed by investigating agencies.
