Police Identify Man in Fatal Revere Hit-and-Run (Update)

The driver behind the fatal hit-and-run crash from April 9th, has been identified as 79-year-old, Paul Graffe. His attorney issued a statement indicating that the man believed he had hit a pothole on Route 145, the scene of the fatal accident. It was not until he was home, and his family assessed the damage on the car that he realized what happened Monday evening. On that Monday evening he also experienced chest pains and was rushed to the hospital. He was released this past Friday, April 13th.

Revere Police Headquarters reports that there was no indication of impairment of the driver by drugs or alcohol. Mr. Gaffe, through his attorney, is fully cooperating with the investigation.

Massachusetts Turnpike Potholes Cause Trouble for Several Vehicles

In Sturbridge, a large pothole at Exit 9 of the Massachusetts Turnpike caused trouble for many vehicles on Monday. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation had to close down several lanes to fill in the pothole. The closure also affected the exit near Interstate 84 west.

The vehicles that came into contact with the potholes could not be moved and needed the assistance of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation emergency service patrol truck.

There is no information on whether any of the drivers suffered injuries.

T-Bone Car Accident Injures Two in Hyannis

Hyannis Fire Captain Greg Dardia reports that there was a two car T-bone accident at Bristol Avenue and Bearse’s Way on Monday afternoon. Both vehicles were driven by women who sustained injury requiring transport to Cape Cod Hospital. The road was shut off to traffic for almost an hour. The vehicles involved were a Toyota 4Runner and minivan which each sustained serious damage.

Springfield Home Crushed as Tree Topples Over

Residents of a Forest Park neighborhood in Springfield woke up Monday morning to a fallen tree. The tree smashed into a 1993 Honda Civic, a house at 23 Vermont Street, and took down city wires. The house on Vermont Street will be reviewed by inspectors of the Department of Code Enforcement for habitability.

Two Car Collision on Belair Street Results in Injury

A two vehicle crash occurred on a neighborhood street late this afternoon in Brockton on Belair Street. One woman injured her arm. The Brockton Fire Department reported to the scene. It appeared to be nearly a head-on collision of both cars, yet only the front corner bumpers and wheels were damaged. No further information at this time.

Electrical Fire in Chicopee Apartment Building

Half a dozen individuals were removed from their apartments in Chicopee in the early hours of Monday, April 16th due to fire. The Chicopee Fire Department discovered that the fire started in the back of one of the top units from an electrical problem. The State Fire Marshal’s Office was also involved in the investigation.

First responders arrived at the scene at 517 McKinstry Avenue to find that all the occupants fled the burning building. The roof of the building was compromised in the fire. It took almost an hour for the fire to be tamed, and firefighters completely quenched the fire after multiple hours. The fire fight and clean up were handled by Holyoke, Springfield and Westover Air Reserve Base fire departments, although the bulk of the fight was handled by Chicopee firefighters.

The Pioneer Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross has come to the aid of the apartment occupants.

Triple Car Crash in Springfield Injures Three

At 10:15 a.m. on Roosevelt Avenue in Springfield, two cars collided. The incident occurred on the icy streets close to Butova Gymnasium at American International College. It is unclear how or why, another car added to the accident shortly thereafter. Occupants in all three cars were transported to the hospital with injuries.

Icy Road Accident Lawsuit

As much as the local news would like you to believe that the weather reports are dependable, they are not. Sometimes, a driver finds himself amidst a sudden weather change, and must push on to their ending point. This change in weather may not have been something the driver was prepared for and an accident may occur. It may not be the weather alone that was the cause of the accident, but the condition of the road combined with the weather. The city responsible for maintaining the road may be liable to the driver for not foreseeing the dangerous road condition in certain weather conditions.

Two Vehicle Car Accident into Utility Pole in Brockton

At about 5 a.m. on Monday, Brockton Fire arrived at a street corner in Brockton to find one silver vehicle plowed into a utility pole. A second black vehicle appeared to have run into the street sign next to the utility pole on the same block. There are no further details available at the moment, however, video was captured by BLTV News on Twitter.

School Bus Crash on I-91

Monday morning, Rock Hill residents awoke to news that a school bus and a Sport Utility Vehicle had collided on the Interstate 91 south. The accident occurred on West Street before exit 23. Head injuries were reported requiring transport to the local hospital. The impact was severe, and caused great damage to the Sport Utility Vehicle. No word on whether there were occupants aboard the school bus, or who the injured parties were.

Families across the nation rely on school bus transportation for their children, and believe it is a safe form of travel. However, school bus accidents do occur and based on the reason for the accident, there are many entities who may be responsible for your child’s injuries. Ludlow Head-On Collision Cause Uncovered

As of Sunday afternoon, the drivers involved in a head-on car accident in Ludlow on Friday evening, were still hospitalized. The accident occurred around 21 Center Street, they were single occupant vehicles.

The Ludlow Police, Massachusetts State Police and Hampden County District Attorney’s office have released new information. They uncovered that one of the vehicles veered over the center line which was the reason for the accident. Both vehicles are being searched and reviewed by investigating agencies.
