A construction worker suffered a severe arm injury and had to be removed from the scaffolding by Springfield firefighters. Firefighters arrived on the scene around 11:30 am to find the man several stories up and brought in machinery to lower him down. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital.

 

The man is in stable condition and his injuries are not life-threatening

At about 5:30 a.m. today a tractortrailer jackknifed suddenly on Route 93.  Jack-knifed Tractor-Trailer Shuts Down Highway

This happened on the route traveling southbound, just before Exit 36 in Woburn.

The accident forced the closure of the right two lanes of the highway.

Both lanes were reopened about an hour later.

A New Bedford police officer was struck by a car Monday morning. New Bedford Police Injured in Car Accident

The officer was on foot in a construction area on Church Street when the officer was hit. The accident occurred at about 11 a.m.

The office was injured and treated at the scene. The officer is believed to make a full recovery.

Although, the incident looks to be an accident, the incident is under full investigation.

Monday morning, Rock Hill residents awoke to news that a school bus and a Sport Utility Vehicle had collided on the Interstate 91 south. The accident I-95 School Bus Crash Injuriesoccurred on West Street before exit 23. Head injuries were reported requiring transport to the local hospital. The impact was severe, and caused great damage to the Sport Utility Vehicle. No word on whether there were occupants aboard the school bus, or who the injured parties were.

The accident has not been fully looked into by authorities. The company states that initial investigations reveal this was an incident that has not occurred before with the 2005 reserve equipment.

The Wednesday evening fire started in a triple floor, multi-family dwelling on Duke Street. There was thick Mattapan Equipment Failuresmoke on the top floor when firefighters arrived on scene. The faulty equipment was part of Tower Ladder 10 where the ladder fell onto the home. The fireman in the bucket at the time descended a few feet, and risked severe injury if the ladder’s fall was not stopped by the home.

According to Boston Fire Commissioner Joseph Finn, their equipment is well maintained by the department. Prior to sending it out for service, no one noticed a problem with the ladder.
