We usually think of personal injury lawsuits as coming to fruition based on accidents or behavior that the victim could not have predicted. The Importance of Taking Photos After a Car Accident

Car collisions are sudden. They happen in the middle of a tranquil, uneventful drive. That quick minute can result in minor injuries or tragic fatality.

Once you are safe from the immediate harm of the accident, shock can quickly set in. It can be hard to think or understand the gravity of the situation. These may be some of the most crucial moments in the life of your personal injury lawsuit. This is why it is important to take pictures of the vehicle, the surroundings, the people, even your clothes and skin.

The American Association of Justice reports that insurance companies are very profitable. They are so profitable because they can be incredibly successful in denying accident claims. Your photos will back up your words. Without your photos, it becomes easier for an insurance adjuster to put the culpability of the accident on you, low-balling the cost of the damage, and arguing that your injuries are not that severe.

Massachusetts Laws and Texting While Driving

For nearly ten years in Massachusetts texting while driving has been illegal.

There are similar laws in nearly at 50 states in this country, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). To drive legally in Massachusetts, every driver should refrain from reading, sending or otherwise operating their cell phone to engage with a text message, e-mail, or other communication.

This is not only limited to when the vehicle is in motion. If the vehicle is on, yet stopped, the driver is still deemed to be “driving” and operating the motor vehicle.

Are there “Leash Laws” in Massachusetts?

Annually, canines bite or fight with nearly 5 million individuals in this country. These attacks usually occur because the domesticated dog was not on a leash or otherwise restrained in public venues.

Massachusetts general laws, chapter 140, section 173, would be the states “leash law” that requires an animal in public on a leash at all times. You should also check the laws in your local city and town for added restrictions.

If an owner of a dog does not follow the laws and regulations of Massachusetts and the town, and another person is injured by the dog, the owner will likely be facing a personal injury lawsuit known as a “dog bite claim.”

Teenage Drivers Need to Remember These Points

The drivers that face the most risk when getting in a vehicle ate those between the ages of 16 and 19. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that this cohort have triple the chance a fatality in a car accident than drivers in their 30s.

It is their youth and lack of real world experience contributes to teenage driving accidents. Because of teenage personality, such drivers speed, do not wear seat belts and entertain all forms of dangerous acts.

Young driver’s learn and absorb driving habits from their instructors who are often their parents. So it is important to demonstrate the safest examples of driving.

Manchester Motor Fatality Victim Identified

Today, Manchester Police revealed that Thomas Tortora was the victim of a fatal accident on Sunday. The man, a Manchester resident, was killed on Highland Street by impact.

Tortora was traveling down Highland Street at a great rate of speed. His vehicle slammed into a guard rail, the force of which ejected him from the scene of the accident. He was declared dead at the scene.

Initial law enforcement conclusions are that the cause of the accident was speed.

Marcy Cushing Identified as Victim of Mattapoisett Fatal Car Accident

Today, the Massachusetts State Police have released the identity of the woman killed in the single-vehicle accident in Mattapoisett yesterday.

She was 38-year-old Bourne resident Marcy Cushing.

Early yesterday morning her Toyota Camry crashed into a tree after veering off the highway on Route 195 East. No further details have been released.

Octagenarian Escape House Fire with Help of Police in Malden

On Wednesday at about 10:15 a.m., three different sets of fire units were requested to handle a house fire at 90 Ashland Street. The fire took almost an hour to be squelch, and numerous individuals had to evacuate as a result.

Nearly half a dozen of those individuals that had to relocate were adults. A female, 86 years in age, was inside the building requiring a Malden Police Officer to enter the building to recover her before the arrival of Malden Fire.

The catalyst for the fire is unknown at this time.
