Two individuals involved in one vehicle identified as a Nissan were transported to a local hospital.

The Nissan was removed from the scene by a tow truck.

The police were dispatched at 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24.

An apartment fire at 16 Fairgrounds Road in Sturbridge caused fatal injuries to an elderly woman who lived there. The fire occurred on April 22 and was caused by a microwave oven. Sturbridge Woman Killed in Accidental Apartment Fire

Fire officials further discovered that the apartment lacked an operable smoke detector. Firefighters immediately transported her to the hospital but she later died.

The Worcester County District Attorney’s office will release the name of the victim at a later date.

State and local fire officials are working with the building’s owner to ensure that each apartment has an operable smoke detector with functioning back-up batteries.

A motorcycle and car crashed into each other on April 22 in Hadley, causing serious injuries to the riders on the motorcycle.Hadley Motorcycle Riders Sustain Serious Injuries in Car Accident

The riders were a man and a woman, residents of Ware. They were transported to Springfield’s Baystate Medical Center in an ambulance. They were reported as being in critical condition, yet stable.

The crash involved a sedan and happened at about 4:30 p.m. on South Maple Street around the Mountain Farms Mall and Hampshire Mall. Hadley Police, Hadley Fire Department and Amherst Fire Department were all dispatched to the scene of the accident.

Brockton police has identified 35 year-old Terrance Pyrtle as the driver of the SUV which ran a red light, crashed into a Brockton gas station and killed Terri Degennaro last week. Terrance Pyrtle Identified as Driver Who Killed Terri Degennaro in Brockton Gas Station Car Crash

Pyrtle is a Taunton resident and has a lengthy history of running traffic signals going as far back as March 2001. He was cited most recently in June 2015 for a car accident. The fatal gas station accident occurred at Main Street and Perkins Avenue on April 19. Police are seeking to suspend his license with the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

Terri Degennaro, 54-years-old, died later in the day after initially declining to be transported to a hospital for treatment. The cause of her death was internal bleeding. She ultimately died at Beth Israel Hospital, after first seeking treatment at Brockton Hospital hours after the accident.

Today, an elderly woman carrying flowers was crossing the street in front of Norwood Hospital when she was hit by a car. Eighty Year Old Pedestrian Dies in Car Accident While Crossing the Street in Norwood

The accident happened at 11:50 a.m. on Washington Street at the intersection of Bond Street, where the hospital is located. Although she was immediately attended to in the street by doctors and nurses, she was then taken inside the hospital for surgery where she could not be saved due to the extent of her injuries and she later died.

The vehicle that struck and killed her was a grey Toyota Rav 4 Sports Utility Vehicle that was driving northbound.

At about 5:30 a.m. today a tractortrailer jackknifed suddenly on Route 93.  Jack-knifed Tractor-Trailer Shuts Down Highway

This happened on the route traveling southbound, just before Exit 36 in Woburn.

The accident forced the closure of the right two lanes of the highway.

Both lanes were reopened about an hour later.

Last night, a crash occurred in front of JJ’s Dairy Hut in Cohasset. The driver was a 17-year-old teen, also of Cohasset. He failed to StockSnap_EGAHX2C0VP-300x200yield to oncoming traffic on Chief Justice Cushing Highway also known as Route 3A.

The accident occurred at 8:15 p.m. when he was leaving JJ’s Dairy Hut in his 2012 Ford Focus. The teenager was turning to go south on the highway, when he drove out in front of a 2005 Toyota Prius northbound on Route 3A. The driver of the Prious was a woman in her late 20s, a resident of Whitman. The front of her car was hit by the teenager, which caused her to veer across the lane and into the soft shoulder.

The Whitman woman suffered injuries as a result and was taken to South Shore Hospital.

A police chase began in Haverhill this evening after shots rang out at law enforcement officers.Haverhill police chase ends in crash

This occurred on Interstate 495, with the pursuit continuing onto Interstate 93 northbound. The pursuit ended on Route 111 with the fleeing suspect crashing.

A woman in Rayham sustained injuries after her speeding vehicle crashed through a  garage. Woman Crashes Into Garage

The nearly 90-year-old woman was hurt this morning because she stepped on the gas with her vehicle in reverse crashing into a garage. She was trying to get out of the way of a pick-up truck that was stationed out front of the garage.

Law enforcement officials were dispatched to a home at 63 Center Street at about 9:30 a.m.
