Bike Accident on Congress StreetBeverly, MA (July 11, 2018) – A car and motorcycle collided in Beverly, Massachusetts Tuesday, leaving the motorcyclist hospitalized with injuries.

The crash occurred at Herrick Street and Sohier Road, around 1:25 pm.  At that time, a motorcyclist was traveling behind a Toyota passenger vehicle.  The Toyota attempted to turn left into a driveway.  The motorcyclist collided with the right side of the Toyota and the motorcycle toppled over into the roadway.

Two police units, along with fire and ambulance crews arrived on the accident scene.  The motorcyclist was injured in the crash.  He was transported to Beverly Hospital with a neck injury.  His condition is unknown at this time.  The Toyota driver was not hurt.  Police are still investigating the crash at this time.

images-1Salem, MA (July 11, 2018) – Salem police responded to reports of an injury crash at 126 Boston Street on Tuesday.  Police were initially called to the scene at 2:55 pm for a crash that had occurred just moments earlier at this location.  Officers discovered that two cars were involved in the crash.   The force of the collision caused an airbag deployment in one of the vehicles.

Personal injuries were reported in this crash.   As of Wednesday morning, the nature and extent of the injuries are not known.  Police have also not revealed how the crash may have occurred or which driver was at fault.  The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Salem Police Department.

download-4-1Lynn, MA (July 11, 2018) – A personal injury accident involving two vehicles occurred on Tuesday in Lynn, Massachusetts.  Lynn police were called to the intersection of Broad and Newhall Streets at 5:41 am Tuesday morning in reference to a two car crash with injuries.

Police and EMS officials responded to the call and found one person suffering from injuries that were caused by the crash.  The injured victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.   There is no update on their condition or the extent of their injuries at this time.  Police are still investigating the cause of this crash and have released no additional details surrounding the accident as of Wednesday morning.

download-1Bourne, MA (July 11, 2018) – A toddler playing at a Cape Cod water park on Tuesday suffered a serious injury.  The child, identified as a 2 year old girl, was at a splash pad at Buzzards Bay.  The child was going down a slide at the Splash Pad when she suffered an injury causing her to lose a toe, according to the Bourne Police Department.  Paramedics rushed the girl to a hospital to receive treatment.  The park was closed and the area was cordoned off while the incident was investigated.

A witness, Josephone Bevilacqua, believes that the area where the child was hurt is not safe for guests.  Bevilacqua said “as a parent, I can’t understand how rocks and water are safe.”  The park is closed indefinitely at this time.  It is unclear how exactly the girl lost her toe in in the incident as further details were not immediately available on Tuesday.

download-1-2Pittsfield, MA (July 11, 2018) – Police in Pittsfield investigated two rear-end crashes that occurred at nearly the same location on Tuesday.  The first crash, which we previously reported on, involved a 71 year old woman being rear-ended on South Street.  The second crash, which took place less than an hour after the first, also occurred on South Street.

In this crash, police say that 17 year old Cedric Rose was driving a 2009 Ford Focus when he hit a 2016 Hyundai Sonata being driven by 30 year old Ashley Pemble.  Pemble’s 5 year old son was in the car at the time of the crash.  Additionally, the force of the crash caused Pemble’s car to go forward and hit a 2011 Mitsubish Endeavor, driven by 67 year old Patricia Duma.  All involved are Pittsfield residents.

Pemble and her son were taken to Berkshire medical center for treatment of injuries but have since been released.  No other individuals were injured in this crash.

download-1-1-300x168Pittsfield, MA (July 11, 2018) – A rear-end collision in Pittsfield on Tuesday sent one person to the hospital.  Just after 4:00 pm, Matthew Hoag of Cheshire was operating a 2004 Honda Accord on South Street when he rear-ended a 2007 Hyundai Elantra driven by 71 year old Manzel Morton of Pittsfield.   Both drivers pulled their cars off the road and waited for police to arrive.  Traffic in the area was slow to get by while the crash scene remained active.

Berkshire police arrived on scene and Morton complained of injuries sustained in the rear-end crash.  She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where her condition is currently unknown. It is expected that Hoag will be cited for causing the crash, however, it is unknown what caused him not to stop in time to avoid a collision.

Arthur J. Healey Jr. Killed in Motorcycle CrashWest Yarmouth, MA (July 11, 2018) – A motorcyclist died in crash in West Yarmouth on Tuesday.  The collision occurred near the intersection of Town Brook and Buck Island Roads.  The motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Buck Island when it collided with a car crossing through the intersection.  The force of the impact produced a “non-survivable trauma” according to Yarmouth Police Lieutenant Kevin Lennon.  The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Police are still investigating and Lennon says it is “too early to say what happened.” The road was closed in both directions while police investigated the wreck and remained closed for a significant period of time.  A crash reconstruction team was called in to assist the investigation.  The driver of the vehicle also remained on scene to cooperate with police.   No further details about the crash are available.

Massachusetts Motorcycle Accidents

hospital-emergency-sign_373x_2x-300x200Millbury, MA (July 10, 2018) – A serious accident involving a car and a truck was reported Tuesday afternoon on the Massachusetts Turnpike.  Authorities responded to reports a two vehicle crash near exit 11 at approximately 1:00 pm.  Upon arrival, police discovered that a car had collided with a truck at the scene.  The car was wedged underneath the back of the truck due to the force of the crash.

Unfortunately, at least one person suffered serious injuries in the accident.  The person was rushed to a hospital for treatment.  There is no word on their condition at this time.  Significant delays were experienced by motorists near the site of the crash as police and fire crews remained on scene for over an hour investigating the crash.

The cause of the accident has not been released and no charges were immediately filed.  No other information was available Tuesday evening.

images-1-3East Bridgewater, MA (July 10, 2018) – A violent crash between a dump truck and pickup left four people, including two children, with injuries Tuesday in East Bridgewater.  The crash happened Tuesday morning just after 11:00 am at Plymouth and Washington Streets.  The force of the collision caused the dump truck to flip onto its side. The pickup truck was severely damaged, with its axle lying in the roadway.

Nearby Good Samaritans assisted the injured victims prior to police and rescue workers arriving on scene.  The Good Samaritans assisted people out of their vehicles.  Firefighters then arrived and took over providing first aid.  Two children, ages 5 and 7, were transported via ambulance to South Shore Hospital with serious, but non life-threatening injuries.    A 40 year old man from Weymouth was transported to a hospital with chest, neck and leg injuries.  A 60 year old Halifax man was transported to the hospital for precautionary reasons.

The road remained closed for about two hours and was re-opened around 1:30 pm. East Bridgewater police and fire officials investigated the crash.  The cause of the crash was not immediately released.

Update:  Motorcycle Crash Kills OneBrockton, MA (July 10, 2018) – A 25 year old father died Monday night when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle in Brockton.  Brockton police say that Devin Delacth of Brockton was riding his Suzuki Motorcycle on North Main, near Davidson Street around 9:40 pm Monday.   He then collided with a Volkswagen hatchback and was ejected from his motorcycle.

A passerby noticed Delacth lying face down in the roadway with motorcycle pieces strewn about the road. She performed CPR on the injured man before paramedics arrived on scene.  Delacth was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.  The hatchback driver was uninjured and remained on scene to cooperate with the police investigation.  It is not immediately clear what caused the crash to occur.

Local community members described Delacth as a caring person and a loving father to a young child.  His girlfriend, Ashley Mendes, said she considered him her soulmate and the glue of their family and that he will always be loved and missed.
