Update: Man Killed in Brockton Collision Identified

We previously reported on a serious crash that took place in Brockton on Friday night. In that crash, a pickup truck collided with a sedan as the sedan was traveling on East Street in Brockton. Brockton Police arrived on scene and that the pickup truck driver was attempting to pass the sedan while it was turning into a driveway. Ultimately, a collision occurred between the driver of the sedan and the pickup.

The driver of the sedan was rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was listed initially in critical condition. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the man ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Now, Brockton Police have identified the deceased individual as 54 year old Jorge Leite. Leite was a native of Brockton.

Witnesses on scene described the pickup truck as speeding through the area at an unsafe speed in excess of 80 mph just before the collision. The speed limit in the area of the crash is 30 mph. The truck driver has been identified by Brockton Police as 22 year old Robert Kildayy of West Bridgewater. Kilday was found on the ground when police arrrived on scene according to Brockton police Sgt. George Khoury. The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office is investigating the collision and may charge Kilday in the death.

Head-On Crash Leaves One Dead, One Injured

A tragic head-on crash occurred in Bedford, Massachusetts on Saturday morning. The crash took place on the Middlesex Turnpike, near the intersection with Oak Park Drive, just a little before 9:00 am. At that time, multiple emergency units, including the Bedford Police and Bedford Fire Department were dispatched to the scene of the collision. Upon arrival, authorities discovered the crash involved a woman and an 85 year old man from Billerica.

Through a subsequent investigation, police were able to determine that the man was traveling south on Turnpike and the woman was traveling north in the opposite lane. The man’s vehicle crossed over the center line suddenly and struck the woman’s vehicle head-on. Emergency workers on scene administered treatment to both victims before transporting them to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, the man succumbed to his injuries. The woman has injuries which are not believed to be life threatening. The man’s identity has not been released pending notification of his family. The crash investigation remains ongoing and at this time it is unclear what caused him drift into the oncoming travel lane.

Crash in Brockton Leaves One Critically Injured

A Friday night crash in Brockton, Massachusetts left one person critically injured. According to authorities, the accident took place at approximately 7:30 pm on East Street. Brockton Police were dispatched in reference to the accident call. According to Lt. Ken Grice, the sequence of events began with a man attempting to make a turn from East Street into his driveway. At the same time, a truck was traveling behind the man and attempted to make a pass to go around the man’s vehicle. The truck failed to maneuver safely around the vehicle, however, and ended up sideswiping the turning car.

Emergency medical personnel quickly responded to the scene of the accident while officers investigated. Upon their arrival, they provided aid to the injured man before eventually taking him to a Boston hospital. The man is listed in critical condition at the hospital. At this time, authorities have not released the name of the driver or the injured victim. The Brockton Police Department continues to investigate the crash. It is not is police plan to charge the man in the pickup truck for his role in the crash.

Bicyclist Injured in Crash With Car

A bicyclist in Worcester has serious injuries after a collision with a motor vehicle that occurred on Friday evening. The collision happened on Queen Street, near the intersection with Chandler Street. The cyclist was riding on Queen Street when she entered the intersection at a traffic light. Upon entering the intersection, the woman collided with an oncoming vehicle traveling in the opposite direction, hitting her head against the driver’s side door of the vehicle.

The woman was injured as a result of the collision. Medical assistance was called to the scene by investigating officers with the Worcester Police Department. The woman did sustain a large cut to her head from the impact with the door. Further updates on her condition were not immediately provided. At this time, however, authorities do not believe her injuries to be life-threatening. Witnesses on scene stated to police that the car had a green light when it proceeded into the intersection prior to the collision. The woman has not been identified.

Bicyclist Suffers Serious Injuries in Overnight Crash

A bicyclist was seriously injured in an overnight crash. The crash took place Friday evening in Northampton, Massachusetts. The Northampton Police were called to a scene at New South Street at approximately 1:00 am upon a report of a bicyclist striking a vehicle. Officers responded along with members of the department’s accident reconstruction team.

While on scene, officers were able to determine that a vehicle was stopped at the stoplight in the intersection. The bicyclist came up from behind and struck the vehicle. Northampton Police Sargeant Greg Korepta says the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the police investigation. At this time, no charges have been issued against the driver and it is unclear if any will be forthcoming. The bicyclist’s condition was not immediately available.

Two Car Crash on I-495

A Friday morning rush hour crash caused significant headache for motorists traveling on I-495. The crash, involving two vehicles took place on I-495 in Littleton Massachusetts around 8:00 am. At that time, the Massachusetts State Police received word of the accident. Officers responded to the scene. There, they found the vehicles involved in the crash.

Officers began their investigation and found that the crash did cause injuries. Fortunately, the injuries are described by police as “minor.” The accident resulted in severe property damage to one of the vehicles involved. The vehicle was disabled and had to be towed from the scene. Significant delays were experienced by motorists around the area as traffic had to be re-routed around the accident scene for several minutes.

Injury Accident on Camden Street

Boston Police received a call on Friday afternoon concerning an injury accident on Camden Street. The call came in to police headquarters at approximately 3:30 pm. Officer Moses-Jose Dasilva of the Boston Police Department was out on duty when the call was received. Officer Dasilva was dispatched to the scene of the crash in order to investigate further.

Upon arrival, Officer Dasilva found that the accident involved injuries to at least one person. The accident scene was quickly secured as Officer Dasilva called for medical assistance. EMTs arrived and administered medical care on scene to the injured person. The extent of injuries is unknown at this time, but there is no indication that the injuries are life-threatening.

Pedestrian Accident with Injuries in Boston

Police in Boston responded to a pedestrian vs. car accident on Friday afternoon. The accident took place just prior to 4:00 pm. Boston police officer Dennis Moore was on duty at the time and received the dispatch call. Officer Moore quickly rushed to the scene. Upon his arrival, he discovered a pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian was suffering from injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle. It is not clear if the pedestrian was in a crosswalk when the collision occurred.

Officer Moore called for emergency medical assistance. The pedestrian was treated for injuries on scene. No further details are available regarding the pedestrian’s injuries at this time. The driver and pedestrian were not immediately identified. Officer Moore’s investigation of the crash remains ongoing at this time. Police Respond to Two Car Crash on I-93

Authorities responded to a two car crash on I-93 Friday morning. Upon arrival, they located two vehicles off the left shoulder of the highway. The crash occurred around 2:00 pm in the afternoon and caused traffic in the left lanes to be re-routed as authorities closed the road to investigate. Traffic was backed up for a period of time in the direction of the accident while police remained on scene.

Following investigation, at least one driver was transported to the hospital as a result of the crash. Police determined that the crash was caused due to a driver suffering from what was described as a medical condition, although there is no further word on what the actual medical condition is. Neither of the drivers have been identified by authorities and the extent of injuries is unknown at this time. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.

Injuries Reported In Crash Involving Cement Mixer, SUV

A cement mixer and an SUV were involved in a crash on Friday night in West Barnstable. The crash occurred on Route 6, just outside of Sandwich. The force of the collision caused the cement mixer to leave the roadway and run down an embankment off the shoulder. The SUV suffered heavy property damage in the collision and was undriveable.

Miraculously, despite the damage caused by the crash, only one person suffered injuries. The person was transported to a Cape Cod area hospital and treated for minor injuries which are not considered life threatening. Officials had to use a side road to remove the cement mixer from the embankment because it had fallen so far off the roadway. The accident remains under investigation and neither the driver of the SUV nor the cement truck have been identified. Authorities provided no other details regarding how the accident occurred or which driver could have potentially been at fault for causing the accident in the first place.
