In a disturbing story out of Blackstone, Massachusetts, police report that OUI was responsible for a head-on collision.  Blackstone responded to reports of a head-on accident and found William Halfelder suffering from a cut and bleeding from his head.

After a comprehensive investigation, officers determined that Halfelder was impaired.  After reviewing video from cameras near the scene, they later determined that Halfelder had collided head-on with another vehicle and forced the vehicle off the roadway.  Halfelder’s path of destruction continued on as he rear-ended another car at a red light and struck yet another vehicle before coming to rest on Main Street where he was found by police.

Halfelder was given Narcan on site for a suspected drug overdose.  He was later transported to the hospital.  Remarkably, Halfelder was charged by police with his 4th OUI.  The innocent accident victims did sustain injuries in the crashes but fortunately their injuries were not life-threatening.

download-1-2Washington Street in Boston was the site of an injury accident on Wednesday afternoon.  At 4:33 pm, Boston Police report receiving a call regarding a multiple vehicle crash with personal injury.  Officers on duty were dispatched to the accident scene shortly after receiving the call.  Upon arrival, they discovered that at least one person was injured as a result of the collision.

Upon discovering the injures, officers also requested medical assistance on scene.  EMS responded to provide aid and treatment was given at the accident site by emergency workers.  We do not believe at this time that the motorist’s injuries were life-threatening.  Officers did not identify those involved in the crash.  This accident remains under investigation with the Boston Police Department.

Two Injured in Crash on Bay RoadBoston Police are investigating a personal injury accident that occurred on Wednesday morning.  At 9:40 am, Officer Andrew Minichello with the Boston Police Department responded to the scene of an accident that took place on Cummins Highway.  Officer Minichello discovered a multiple vehicle accident with at least one person injured on scene.  Traffic was slowed at the accident scene as police worked to clear away debris and damaged vehicles.

Medical treatment was given to the injured victims on the scene.   We do not have any indication that life-threatening injuries were sustained.  We also do not have any indication as to the cause or sequence of events leading up to the crash.  Officer Minichello and other officers were able to clear the roadway and allow traffic on Cummins Highway to resume normal flow after a brief delay during the investigation stages.

Boston Police encountered multiple bicycle vs. vehicle accidents on Wednesday evening.  One such accident took place at 6:00 pm on Francis Parkman Drive.  Boston police officer John Keneally received a call regarding a bicyclist suffering from injuries following a crash with a vehicle at the accident location.  Officer Keneally headed towards the crash site along with medical personnel.   The bicyclist did receive medical attention from first responders on the scene.

Boston police have not revealed additional details surrounding the nature of this bicycle accident, including how the bicyclist was struck and whether the driver of the vehicle was at fault for the collision.   Police did not immediately issue any charges in connection with the crash.  At this time, we do not believe that the accident caused any life-threatening injuries.

Bike Accident on Washington StreetA bicyclist was struck by a car in Boston on Wednesday afternoon.  The collision took place around 5:45 pm on Dorcester Avenue within the city limits.   The collision unfortunately involved injuries to the bicyclist.  Officers with the Boston Police Department as well as local emergency medical technicians rushed to the scene to administer medical treatment.

At this time, we have no indication that the bicyclist’s injuries are life-threatening.  There is no specific detail on how the accident occurred or an indication as to whether the bicyclist or the vehicle operator might be at fault for the collision.  Additional details will be provided as they are available.  The Boston Police worked the accident scene and cleared the roadway.  The bicyclist has not been identified.

Vehicle Accident in PlymouthBoston Police responded to the scene of a crash with injuries on Wednesday morning.   The crash call came to the department at 8:47 am.  Officer Philip Kearney was dispatched to the scene on Deacon Street.  The crash caused injury to those involved.  EMS provided medical treatment to the injured victims at the crash site while police worked the area to make sure traffic was able to pass through.

The wreck was cleared away quickly by officers on scene.  The injuries sustained were not life-threatening.  Police did not indicate the identity of the driver involved in this crash or the mechanism of the accident.  The identify of the drivers is also unknown.

Six-Vehicle Pile-up Accident in North Attleboro Causes InjuriesI-93 traffic got off to a rough start on Thursday morning with an injury accident involving multiple vehicles.  The accident happened around 5:00 am on Route 24 southbound in the left travel lane.  This stretch of roadway is located in Andover, Massachusetts.  Police in Andover rushed to the crash scene to check on the injured victims and to secure the area around the accident.

Traffic was blocked in the left travel lanes for some period of time as police were clearing the roadway of cars and debris.  After about an hour, the road re-opened for motorists and traffic was allowed to pass through again.   Although there were injuries in this accident, there is no further detail on the the severity or extent of the injuries to those involved.  We will bring you more information about this crash if it later becomes available.

Injury Accident on Hilltop Drive in SaugusA crash on Route 6 this afternoon in Dennis, Massachusetts has left one-person suffering from life-threatening injuries.  A Ford F-150 was traveling westbound on Route 6, near exit 9 and the Bass River. Officials with the Dennis Fire Department say that the truck was pulling a boat at the time.   Suddenly, the truck was cut off by another vehicle attempting to merge into its lane.  As the driver swerved to avoid hitting the other vehicle, they lost control of the truck and the truck flipped over several times.

One of the injured victims in the truck was trapped underneath the vehicle for several minutes as emergency rescue workers tried to free him.  Emergency personnel from Yarmouth had to use lifting air bags to remove the man from the truck while also utilizing a chain saw to cut trees off of the truck’s door.   Both injured men were taken to Cape Cod Hospital, where one has what are described as life-threatening injuries.

Traffic backed up for several miles due to the accident and was down to one lane for over an hour as officials worked the crash.  Massachusetts State Police are still investigating the crash.  No one has been charged at this time.

download-1-1-300x168A rear-end collision in Harwich, Massachusetts sent four people to the hospital with injuries on Wednesday afternoon.  The crash occurred on Queen Anne Road at Popple Road.  This particular stretch is a construction zone that has been narrowed to  one lane due to the ongoing work in the area.

Police report that around 3:00 pm a Honda Civic was slowed or stopped on Queen Anne due to construction delays.  A Toyota Corolla approached the Civic from behind and failed to reduce its speed in time to avoid a rear-end collision.  The force of the collision resulted in injuries to four people in the Civic.  The injured were taken to Cape Cod hospital by ambulance to be treated.  Their injuries, although serious, do not appear to be life-threatening.  Harwich police officers are handling the accident investigation.  Firefighters from the Brewster and Chatham Fire Departments also assisted with investigation on scene.  There is no word on whether charges will be handed down as a result of the crash.

Rear-End Collision

Woman Struck by Vehicle in WorcesterThe Cambridge Police Department responded to a call for assistance on Tuesday evening regarding a pedestrian incident.   The call came in to police at around 8:00 pm and is recorded as Cambridge Police incident number 18004073.   Cambridge police officers quickly responded to Cedar Street, the location of the call.  When they arrived on scene, they discovered that a pedestrian walking in the roadway had been struck by a car.  The pedestrian sustained injuries in the accident, however, the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Both the driver of the car and the pedestrian remained on scene and assisted Cambridge police with their investigation.   The accident is still under review at this time.  As of now, police have not issued any charges in connection with the incident and have not indicated whether anyone will be charged at a later date.  The driver and pedestrian were not identified.
