images-1-8Sandwich, MA (July 7, 2018) – A rollover crash took place in Sandwich, Massachusetts Friday evening, leaving one person hospitalized.  The accident happened around 11:30 pm on Route 6, between exits 2 and 3.  A vehicle was traveling in the eastbound lane of the highway when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control and crashed the car.  The car rolled over before coming to rest.

Police and fire officials responded to the crash scene.  The driver was able to get out of the vehicle on their own before police arrival.  The driver sustained injuries in the rollover and was transported by ambulance to Cape Cod Hospital for further evaluation.  The driver’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Massachusetts State Police are investigating this accident and have released no additional information as of Saturday morning.

download-3-1Hatfield, MA (July 7, 2018) – A Massachusetts State Trooper suffered injuries after crashing his cruiser early this morning on Route 91 in Hatfield.  The Trooper was responding to a call for a disabled motor vehicle  at approximately 1:30 a.m. when a deer darted in front of his police vehicle.  The Trooper swerved to avoid the deer, but struck a guardrail instead.  His vehicle then went over the side of the guardrail before coming to rest.

After the crash, the Trooper’s car became engulfed in flames.  A second Trooper was luckily in the area and was able to pull the Trooper out before the accident became catastrophic. Hatfield and Northampton Firefighters responded to extinguish the car fire and provided medical aid along with EMS.

The injured Trooper, whose name has not been released, was transported to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton and was later transferred to Bay State Medical Center for further treatment.  He has since been released from the hospital as of Saturday morning.

Update: Plantation Street Motorcycle Crash Victim Identified as Adrianna ColonBoston, MA (July 7, 2018) – The Boston Fire Department announced on Friday that one of its own has died in a motorcycle crash.  The deceased firefighter has been identified as Justin D. Poitras.  Poitras died when his motorcycle crashed into a car at the intersection of Clapp and Boston Streets in Dorcester.   Poitras was 31 years old at the time of his death and had served as a Boston firefighter for a number of years.  Prior to becoming a firefighter, he served his country in the US Marine Corps.

There is no word on what caused the crash at this time and the other driver has not been identified.  Police in Boston are still investigating the crash as of Saturday morning.

Stoughton Police Looking for Vehicle Seen Driving Away from CrashLowell, MA (July 7, 2018) – A hit and run victim in Lowell who suffered serious injuries in a crash earlier this week has been identified.  On Tuesday, a woman was riding a motorized scooter along Middlesex Street around 10:00 pm when she was struck by a dark colored Mercury Sable passing through the area.  The Mercury Sable fled the scene immediately after the crash.

The injured victim is 46 year old Donna Bettencourt of Lowell.   Bettencourt sustained very serious injuries including a broken pelvis and a nearly severed leg.  Doctors are still considering amputation if her leg does not respond to additional treatment.

Police are still searching for the hit and run driver.  On Friday, they released images of the suspect vehicle but have yet to make any arrests.

download-4-1Boston, MA (July 7, 2018) – Binney Street in Boston was the site of an injury accident on Wednesday afternoon.  At 6:34 am, Boston Police report receiving a call regarding a crash with personal injury.  Officers on duty were dispatched to the accident scene shortly after receiving the call.  Upon arrival, they discovered that at least one person was injured as a result of the collision.

Upon discovering the injures, officers also requested medical assistance on scene.  EMS responded to provide aid and treatment was given at the accident site by emergency workers.  We do not believe at this time that the motorist’s injuries were life-threatening.  Officers did not identify those involved in the crash.  This accident remains under investigation with the Boston Police Department.

admin-ajax-1-300x173Boston, MA (July 7, 2018) – A crash involving injuries was reported to the Boston Police Department on Friday morning around 3:30 am.  The accident took place on Gallivan Boulevard.  Officer Ryan Egan of the BPD was assigned to work this crash site.  Officer Egan confirmed in his report that there were injuries suffered in the crash.  Once he arrived on  the scene, Officer Egan requested an ambulance to respond in order to assess and treat the injured victims.

Boston Police have opened a file on this accident under complaint number 182052994.  A crash investigation was conducted as Officer Egan spoke to the drivers, took traffic measurements and reviewed the area for clues regarding the sequence of the crash.  We are still awaiting word on the exact nature of the injuries sustained as well as the cause of the crash.

Vehicle and Bus Crash on I-93Boston, MA (July 7, 2018) – Boston Police responded to the scene of a crash with injuries on Friday.   The crash call came to the department at 6:33 pm.  Officer Matthew Wyman was dispatched to the scene on Blue Hill Avenue.  The crash caused injury to those involved.  EMS provided medical treatment to the injured victims at the crash site while police worked the area to make sure traffic was able to pass through.

The wreck was cleared away quickly by officers on scene.  The injuries sustained were not life-threatening.  Police did not indicate the identity of the driver involved in this crash or the mechanism of the accident.  The identify of the drivers is also unknown.

Accident with Injury on Glenarm StreetWorcester, MA (July 6, 2018) – Worcester police responded to an early morning accident involving injures on Thursday.  The call was received by police at around 1:00 am in reference to an accident in the 1 block of Paine Street.  Police made their way to the scene to investigate.  When they got to the crash, they discovered an accident with multiple vehicles and injuries resulting from the crash.

Officers then requested that emergency medical workers come to the scene for medical treatment.  At least one person was treated on scene for their injuries.  Police closed the affected area while they cleared away debris from the crash and investigated the cause.  There is no word at this time on what might have caused the accident to occur nor is there an update on the condition of those injured.  The Worcester Police Department investigation remains ongoing.

Tractor-Trailer Accident on I-90Woburn, MA (July 6, 2018) – A rollover crash occurred Friday on Route 128 North in Woburn, Massachusetts.  Woburn police report that a landscaping truck was traveling on 128 pulling a bobcat machine on a trailer.  Suddenly, and for reasons unknown, the driver lost control of the truck.  The truck rolled over and the bobcat machine landed on the highway.

Fire and rescue officials, along with police, responded to the accident scene.  There were injuries reported in the crash but the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.  Both lanes of Route 128 experienced significant delays as a result of the crash.  No additional information on this crash is available as of Friday evening.  Police are still working to determine a cause for the rollover.

949267_pedestrian_crossing_sign-300x278Cambridge, MA (July 6, 2018) – A pedestrian suffered injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Cambridge, Massachusetts on Thursday.   Cambridge police report that a pedestrian was walking along Washington Street just before 8:00 pm when they were struck by a vehicle.  An ambulance came to the scene and took the patient to a nearby hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police investigated the crash for some period of time.  Eventually, they concluded that the driver was at fault for the crash and that the pedestrian was struck while in a crosswalk.  The driver was charged with Failure to Stop for a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk.  There is no additional information available at this time.
