Drinking Wells Safe to Drink From, Near Truck Accident, Gasoline Spill Caused by Springfield Man (Update)

Drinking wells, near the April 9 oil spill around I-91 of North Thompsonville, in Enfield are safe for drinking, according to health inspectors.

They were evaluated after a fuel tanker collided, rolled over and dumped over 2,500 gallons of gasoline on the southbound Exit 49 ramp of I-91 of the Massachusetts state line.

A government spokesperson stated that the wells had been safe since April 13 The spokesperson also revealed that a private agency — ATC — is keeping on eye on the drinking water as well. ATC is filing reports with the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

According to Massachusetts law enforcement, the collision occurred after 1 p.m. on April 9. The driver of the truck was Jonathan Andrew Edwards, 32, of West Springfield, Massachusetts. He did not to clear the ramp’s bend. The truck rolled, ending up on the right shoulder.

Late Night Death of Chicopee Man in his 70’s From Car Accident

The cause of the Chicopee man’s death in last night’s car accident was a medical event that preceding the accident, and not the accident injuries.

His wife was also in the car, she was able to gain partial control of the card before the head-on impact into a guard rail. Law enforcement was dispatched to the scene at around 10 p.m. last night. The accident occurred on Fuller Road close to the Interstate 291 onramp. There were no other vehicles involved.

Chicopee Police Officers did administer CPR and activated an automatic defibrillator prior to the arrival of Emergency Medical Technicians who gained control of the scene. The man, in his 70s, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The wife did not sustain injuries in the accident. The collision will be reviewed by the Chicopee Police Crash Reconstruction Team.

SUV Crashes into Brockton Gas Station, Cars, Causing Injury

A terrifying car collision at a gas station in Brockton put one individual in the hospital with injuries.

The cameras inside the Gas Depot station recorded the full accident. In the video, a dark car is seen entering the station when a black Sport Utility Vehicles speeds in, rams into a couple of gas pumps and stops on the top of the dark car.

The accident, occurred at approximately 10 a.m. today and did not result in more casualties.

Brockton Fire officials who arrived on scene report that a third vehicle was also smashed into on Main Street in connection to this accident. Only the three individuals were involved.

Fortunately, not one of the gas tanks ignited and no one was run over. Law enforcement will begin an inquiry into the reason for the accident.

Pedestrian Fatality in Hartford

A pedestrian was killed in an accident around 6 a.m. today in Hartford.

The collision was at Groton and Wyllys Streets. The pedestrian was identified as Luis Torres, a Hartford man in his 50s. First responders discovered him on scene suffering from severe injuries. He was transported to Hartford Hospital where he died.

It was a nearly 30-year-old female East Hartford resident that was driving the vehicle. She was traveling on Wyllys Street. She did not leave the accident, and is making herself available to law enforcement inquiry. Traffic was backed up to Columbus Boulevard as a result of the accident.

There is an ongoing inquiry by Hartford Accident Reconstruction detectives.

UMass Student Scott Erlandson Dies in Unknown Accident

Freshman Scott Erlandson, a student at UMass Amherst, has died in an unknown accident.

Representative of UMass Amherst released the news today. Erlandson is the third student fatality this semester. Another student, Caleb Martin, passed away in a car collision.

School officials refuse to release the details or circumstances surrounding his death.

Students and staff are advised to utilize therapy services being offered by the school.

Wilbraham House Fire Under Investigation

Yesterday, early evening, a fire broke out at a house on Three Rivers Road in Wilbraham.

The investigation into the cause continues today.

An elderly occupant and toddler were able to flee the house fire.

Firefighters had to shut down Three Rivers Road, starting with Circle Drive down to Boston Road.

Manchester Motor Fatality Victim Identified

Today, Manchester Police revealed that Thomas Tortora was the victim of a fatal accident on Sunday. The man, a Manchester resident, was killed on Highland Street by impact.

Tortora was traveling down Highland Street at a great rate of speed. His vehicle slammed into a guard rail, the force of which ejected him from the scene of the accident. He was declared dead at the scene.

Initial law enforcement conclusions are that the cause of the accident was speed.

Marcy Cushing Identified as Victim of Mattapoisett Fatal Car Accident

Today, the Massachusetts State Police have released the identity of the woman killed in the single-vehicle accident in Mattapoisett yesterday.

She was 38-year-old Bourne resident Marcy Cushing.

Early yesterday morning her Toyota Camry crashed into a tree after veering off the highway on Route 195 East. No further details have been released.

Octagenarian Escape House Fire with Help of Police in Malden

On Wednesday at about 10:15 a.m., three different sets of fire units were requested to handle a house fire at 90 Ashland Street. The fire took almost an hour to be squelch, and numerous individuals had to evacuate as a result.

Nearly half a dozen of those individuals that had to relocate were adults. A female, 86 years in age, was inside the building requiring a Malden Police Officer to enter the building to recover her before the arrival of Malden Fire.

The catalyst for the fire is unknown at this time.

Saugus Drunk Driver Runs Into Own Home

On Wednesday, the Saugus Police released information that a male was in a car accident on Saturday.

The male’s mother reported that he was driving under the influence.

She stated that at 10:49 a.m. on April 14th he struck the Biscayne Avenue home with his vehicle.

There is no further information on whether the man was arrested, or suffered any injuries.
