download-6Harwich, MA (July 7, 2018) – A two vehicle collision took place in Harwich, Massachusetts Saturday morning.  The crash happened at 10:45 am on Route 39, near Harwich-Orleans Road.   Two SUVs were involved in the crash and both suffered front-end damage, indicating that the vehicles collided head on.

Harwich police, fire and ambulance all responded to the accident scene shortly after it occurred.  Both drivers received treatment on scene for their injuries, however, they refused to be transported to the hospital.  A fluid spill in the roadway had to be mitigated by the fire department personnel.  Traffic in the area experienced delays while police worked to clear the accident.   There is no additional information regarding the crash at this time.

Motor Vehicle Crash on I-93NPittsfield, MA (July 8, 2018) – A woman was hurt Friday when she collided with another vehicle in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.  The woman, whose name has not been released, was operating a vehicle on Hubbard Avenue around 3:00 pm and attempting to make a turn out of a local business.  The woman then collided with an Mazda SUV that was turning left across traffic.

The resulting impact of the collision left the woman with injuries.  EMS responded to the crash and transported the woman to a local hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, according to Officer David Hallas of the Pittsfield Police Department.  The crash is still being investigated by local authorities.  Delays were experienced on the scene until about 4:00 pm as police worked to clear away the wreckage from the crash.

download-4Leverett, MA (July 8, 2018) – One person was sent to the hospital early Saturday morning following a crash that left a car engulfed in flames.  Leverett police say that the accident happened on Cave Hill Road.  The driver crashed into a telephone pole after swerving to avoid a deer that had run into the roadway.  The car caught fire after striking the telephone pole.

Officials with the Leverett Fire Department responded and were able to remove the driver from the vehicle.  The driver was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation.  There were no other vehicles or passengers involved in the crash.  There is no word on the extent of the injuries as of Saturday evening.

images-1-3Worcester, MA (July 8, 2018) – Worcester Police responded to a report of an accident with personal injuries on Salisbury Street early Saturday morning.  The call to police was received around 4:00 am and concerned a multiple vehicle accident with injuries in the 600 block of Salisbury.  Officers with the Worcester Police Department along with medical personnel reported to the accident scene.  The scene was quickly secured by officers as they attempted to survey the damage caused by the accident.

At least one person was hurt in this crash and required the attention of medical technicians.  We have no word on their condition at this time.   Everyone involved in this accident stayed on scene to cooperate with investigating officers.  Worcester Police are still investigating the crash at this time.  There is no information on those involved or the cause of the wreck.

download-7Mansfield, MA (July 8, 2018) – The 4th of July week is ending with more fireworks-related injuries across our state.  On Saturday, a 38 year old man from Blackstone, Massachusetts suffered a significant injury while trying to light a firework in a parking lot.

The firework is described as “consumer-grade.”  The man suffered a significant hand injury when the firework exploded as it was being lighted.  A nearby off-duty police officer heard the explosion and ran to assist the injured man.  The man was bleeding heavily from his hand and arm.  A tourniquet was applied to slow the bleeding and the man was rushed to a nearby hospital.   There is no additional word on his condition.

Massachusetts State Police also responded to the scene and are currently looking into the explosion.  The case remains under investigation at this time.

download-3-4Sandwich, MA (July 8, 2018) – Four people suffered injuries in a two car collision Saturday evening in Sandwich, Massachusetts.  Police say that, just before 8:00 pm, two vehicles were traveling on Route 6A at Spring Hill Road when they collided with one another.  One of the involved vehicles then struck a utility pole.

Sandwich police, along with fire and rescue units responded to the crash scene to investigate and assist the injured victims.  One person had to be extricated from a wrecked vehicle.  In total, four people were transported to a nearby hospital for injuries suffered in the crash.  At this time, none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

Sandwich police are still investigating this crash.   Delays were present in the area while workers attempted to repair the damaged utility pole.  No other information regarding this crash is currently available.

Injury Accident on New Vista LaneWorcester, MA (July 7, 2018) – Worcester police responded to a series of injury accidents on Friday afternoon and evening.  One such accident, a hit and run with injuries, took place in the 1 block of Chandler Street.  Police first received the call around 5:00 pm and it is believed that the accident occurred shortly prior to the call being received.

Patrol officers were dispatched to the scene.  Upon arrival, officers confirmed that one person was injured in the hit and run crash.  A search of the immediate area for the other driver turned up negative.  Police recorded the identifying information of the driver remaining on scene and completed their crash report documenting their observations.  At this time, the crash investigation remains ongoing while officers attempt to locate the other driver.  There is no word on the extent or severity of injuries sustained in the crash.  No other details were immediately available.

images-2-1Worcester, MA (July 7, 2018) – Injuries were reported in a Friday evening accident that occurred on East Worcester Street.  The accident call came in to police around 6:00 pm regarding an accident with injuries.  Police responded to the call and found at least one person suffering from injuries sustained in the collision.   Additional units, including medical workers, also responded to the scene.  The injured victim was treated for their injuries on scene.

The severity of injuries are unknown at this time but there is no indication that they are life-threatening.  Police are still investigating this crash and have not released any additional details, including the identity of those involved or whether charges are expected to be issued.

Vehicle Accident on Exit 26Worcester, MA (July 7, 2018) – Police in Worcester, Massachusetts received a call on Friday about a possible accident with injuries occurring in the 1 block of Tobias Boland Way.  Upon their arrival to the scene, officers were able to confirm that a crash had just occurred in the area.  One victim was left behind at the crash site suffering from injuries that were sustained in the collision.

Officers requested a medical unit to treat the victim and first aid was administered on scene.  The other individual involved quickly left the scene of the crash before officers could arrive.  Police have been unable to locate this driver as of the time this story is reported.   There is no word on the severity of the injuries sustained in the crash or the identity of those involved.

Pedestrian Accident in West Bridgewater  Hyannis, MA (July 7, 2018) – A pedestrian was struck by an alleged impaired driver early Saturday morning in Hyannis, Massachusetts. The collision took place around 1:00 am at the intersection of Main Street and Pine Avenue.  The pedestrian was walking through the intersection when they were struck by the vehicle.

An ambulance arrived on scene and transported the pedestrian to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.  The driver was investigated by Barnstable police following the crash.  After administration of field sobriety tests, it was determined that the driver was impaired.  She was arrested and charged with OUI, speeding and operating to endanger.  The crash remains under investigation.
